Paul,
I am not familiar with the BC-3. However, from the general knowledge I have, your procedure sounds correct. Do not forget to set the suggested "Auto" aperture on the lens, of course. BC-6 (but not BC-3) instructions can be found at
http://www.metz.de/en/photo_electronics/manuals.164.html
Our service department advise me that the winding mechanism is not a particular problem with these cameras and they are currently able to repair approximately 90% of cameras returned.

I have just purchased a 6 MF plus lenses. I want to get a small flash unit for fill in etc. I am looking at the Metz 20 BC-6, a small flash with Auto setting. It has been about 20 years since I have had to worry about flash (everything TTL with my Nikon)
Three questions:
(1) Does anyone have experience with the Metz BC-6, or can you recommend anothere similar 'small' flash unit
(2) Is this the correct procedure for using the flash - set camera and flash to auto, read appropriate aperture of table on back of flash - take photo, assuming the firing and sync will all happen through the hot shoe.
(3) On a different subject, I have been reading a lot that the winding mechanism on the 6 is prone to failure, and that Mamiya no longer make the parts to fix it. Is the winder that problematic ?
Thanks for your help.... Paul
