Sounds like you have a fault on the winding mechanism. the camera should be returned to the Mamiya service centre for attention.

If cranked swiftly, this does not happen and mirror stays down, shutter does not open??????

Hi,
I got a M645 E.
when advancing film/cocking ,at the very end of knob rotation, quite often(not each time) the mirror will come up halfway up (by itself)upon depressing the shutter button , shutter opens and mirror comes full up, depressing again , mirror goes down ok and shutter closes.
I dont have user's instruction: any idea?
